found her lost by the river side
The water curled as she made up her mind
Should she stay with a love-less thug
or dive right in and fill up her lungs
She told me to stop
“Don’t come any closer.
The man who you sent you is an evil bastard.
He kidnaps kids, and does twisted things.
He threatens my life on a daily basis.”
“That’s why I’m out here in the rain,
cause I can’t go back there again.”
I said “Why did you marry such an evil man?”
She said “He wasn’t like that when we first began.
He was kind of sweet, with that look in his eyes.
But my ‘white knight’ he kind of froze inside.
I lost him slow, like the sunset skies.
He tortured himself from Jekyll to Hyde.”
“That’s why I’m out here in the rain,
cause I can’t go back there again.”
I thought to myself, “Well she may be right.
But a bounty hunter should keep his eyes on the prize.”
“I’m powerless to save you now-
You might not die by his hands, but you’ll surely drown.
Come with me, if you wanna live.
I’ll take you far away- far away from him.”
That’s why we’re out here in the rain
Cause we can’t go back there again
